Sometimes navigating the transfer portal can be all about timing and situation, and that’s very much the case for Texas A&M wide receiver Raymond Cottrell

Almost every undergraduate in the country must wait until Dec. 4 to enter the transfer portal. That’s when the NCAA’s winter portal window opens. But with Texas A&M firing head coach Jimbo Fisher with two games remaining in the regular season, it trigged an immediate 30-day window that allowed Aggie players to hop in the portal.

Given the opportunity to enter early, Cottrell’s trainer from back home in Florida, Dwayne Carter, thought it made sense for Cottrell to hop in and beat the wave of players that will enter in early December.
