1. Michigan State Spartans: With other legendary head coaches retiring, Tom Izzo continues to roll along on and off the court. He has a top five team and another strong recruiting class that ranks No. 8 national coming in as he looks to continue vying for another Final Four.
2. Rutgers Scarlet Knights: Rutgers has surprised everyone in college basketball with what they have done and are doing on the recruiting trail. They have a very intriguing class with three-star recruits that all have upside coming in paired with a premier talent in Ace Bailey and they might not be done yet...
3. Purdue Boilermakers: The Boilermakers have a deep five-man class in 2024. Matt Painter's class is headlined by a top-25 recruit in Kanon Catchings and of course he had to go get himself another 7-foot-3 big man in Daniel Jacobsen.
4. USC Trojans: Andy Enfield and the Trojans have a three-man class they have pieced together for their move into the Big Ten. They have two skilled shooters in Liam Campbell and Brody Kozlowski while Trent Perry headlines as a top-75 recruit who is a big time competitor and can impact the game as a scorer and playmaker.
5. Michigan Wolverines: Juwan Howard was rolling on the recruiting trail three cycles ago and is getting back to those ways in 2024. He got a top-30 recruit in Khani Rooths to pair with two other Top150 guards. It was a wonder where they would go after this offseason but things are looking up in Ann Arbor.
6. Illinois Fighting Illini: Illinois' class is one that could be easily slept on. They have two three-star commits and on top-40 recruit in More Johnson. Johnson is one of the best defenders in the class and their two three-stars are both intriguing prospects that could sneak up and prove to be impact recruits as the Fighting Illini also continue to be a threat in the portal.
7. Iowa Hawkeyes: Fran McCaffery has a two-man class of Cooper Koch and Chris Tadjo. Both forward but with polar opposite brands as Koch is one of the best shooters in the country and Tadjo is a run-and-jump four-man that will defend, rebound and run the floor.
8. Penn State Nittany Lions: Mike Rhoades has an intriguing class coming into Penn State for his first recruiting cycle as head coach of the Nittany Lions. He's got a three-man class in Dominick Stewart, Jahvin Carter and Miles Goodman that has a blend of shooting, scoring and upside to tap into.
9. Ohio State Buckeyes: The Buckeyes have been amongst the top recruiters each of the last three seasons but with the players they're retaining, they didn't have to go as big in 2024. They still have a good two-man class with Colin White who is a skilled and versatile wing and also Juni Mobley, arguably the best shooter in all of high school.
10. Wisconsin Badgers: The biggest sleeper class in the Big Ten thus far is easily Wisconsin. They have two top-150 recruits that make up for the No. 49 overall class nationally. Jack Robison is a tough and skilled wing who makes shots, cuts, rebounds and passes. Daniel Freitag is a tough and aggressive guard that gets downhill and create for others. Both should be impactful players for the Badgers.
11. Nebraska Cornhuskers: Nebraska snuck in a two-man class after Braden Frager reclassified from 2025 to go 2024 alongside Nick Janowski. The Cornhuskers are also expected to be aggressive in the portal as they look to make their way back to the NCAA Tournament.
12. Northwestern Wildcats: Chris Collins has a two-man class in Angelo Ciaravino and KJ Windham. Windham is particularly a sneaky good addition who really shined this summer at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.
13. Minnesota Golden Gophers: The Gophers are struggling and in need of success both on and off the court and have put together a two-man class in 2024. They landed Grayson Grove and top-150 guard Isaac Asuma. They will be looking to add more in the portal to turn things around.
14. Indiana: The Hoosiers have just one commit but it was a significant one in Liam McNeely. He's their second five-star recruit to commit in the last two cycles but they might not be done yet as they look to beat out Maryland, Houston and Kansas for Derik Queen.
15. Washington Huskies: Mike Hopkins has a one three-star commit in Casmir Davis thus far but we know they will get aggressive again when the portal opens up.
16. UCLA Bruins: Don't get used to seeing UCLA this far down the list because Mick Cronin has a way of piecing things together and is expected to do so before the cycle comes to an end to pair with four-star Eric Freeny. Cronin's particularly been a threat internationally and one can't help but wonder if he will look to the portal to get a little older with his very young team.
17. Oregon Duks: Dana Altman had a high profile 2023 class but has just one three-star recruit in Ibrahima Traore, an athletic and strong big man out of Florida.
